"I want to put 'Boots' [Ennis] in there with Terence Crawford," Charlo said during a Showtime documentary released this week.
Crawford shook up the boxing world July 29 when he annihilated Errol Spence Jr. to win all of the major championship belts at 147-pounds.
There has since been great speculation over whom Crawford will fight next as he may have to compete in a rematch against Spence, but could also box in another big Premier Boxing Champions event.
A ProBox TV source with knowledge of the situation suggested to us that Crawford is firmly a part of the PBC family.
Considering Crawford was seen jawing with Charlo during his tentpole victory over Spence, that may well be a super showdown we see in the coming months/year.
Charlo, though, has his own super-fight to handle beforehand as he takes on Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez at super middleweight on September 30 at the T-Mobile Arena.
Before Crawford can get to Charlo, the 33-year-old suggested he should clash with Ennis — who is PBC-adjacent due to his affiliation with Showtime Sports; the primary broadcast partner for Al Haymon's company.
"I think 'Boots' and Terence Crawford should go at it," he said. "That would be nice. Leave us alone!
"Every sport got that old with the old and in with the new."
Earlier this month, during an interview with Hot 97, Crawford seemed to dismiss the thought of fighting Ennis right now — though he appeared open to such a duel in the future, providing Ennis raises his name and brand value.
“That can happen because we're at the same weight class but, at this point in time, I’m looking for bigger and better opportunities … like Charlo,” said Crawford.
